An abnormal and persistent fear of nudity. Sufferers of this phobia experience undue anxiety even though they realize their fear is irrational. They may worry about seeing others naked or being seen naked, or both.
Green eggs, ham, and Jesus
Acrylic on MDF;
archival gloss varnish.
14.25 x 18.5 x 0.25 inches
Busy State (Reverberation)
Acrylic and gouache on stretched canvas
24 x 24 x 1.5 inches
The saturated tones in this piece create a visual vibration and a visual complexity difficult for the eye to determine depth and space. This starts an electricity within the image that adds to the feeling of motion and makes your eye bounce from corner to corner of the piece. The play on words of the title references the boom of rapid growth that Boise has been going through the past few years. The dashes and stripes like lights and the hustle and bustle of city traffic.
UNTITLED (MY EAR IS BLEEDING)
Acrylic and ink on found stretched canvas;
archival satin varnish.
30 x 40 x 0.6 inches
This piece came out of a transitional period of personal frustration, angst, and fear. Feeling at odds with myself and those around me, I turn inward, then lash out. Communication outward relies on the strokes of painting for the words often fail to stroke anyones interest. Soaking in politics and seeking to make sense of change and oh, by that way, there’s no such thing as global warming.
It’s all just a farce, we’re fine here; wait, what’s that?
Oh, don’t mind that raspberry preserve on my lapel. I think it’s just Chanel.
ARANCIO VIBRANTE, six three four.
par·ei·do·lia\ ˌper-ˌī-ˈdō-lē-ə , -ˈdōl-yə\
The tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.
The scientific explanation for some people is pareidolia, or the human ability to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness. Think of the Rorschach inkblot test.
An intimate abstract series based in hues of deep green and blue, like a deep abyss. Moments of bold saturated tones often erupt across the canvas or trickle-down like rain.
An ongoing series and exploration into myself, my forgotten self, my lost self, hoping to reconnect within.
And we will never be alone again
Cause it doesn’t happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
Cause I know it unlocks like a door
I listened to your problems
Now listen to mine
I didn’t want to anymore
It didn’t matter what they wanted to see He thought he saw someone that looked just like me The summer memory that just never dies We worked too long and hard to give it no time He sees right through me, it’s so easy with lies
Cracks in the road that I would try and disguise He runs his scissor at the seam in the wall He cannot break it down or else he would fall A thousand lonely stars Hiding in the cold
I don’t understand,
don’t get upset I’m not with you…
We’re swimming around,
it’s all I do
When I’m with you
‘Cause I don’t know what else I can do.
