This mixed media piece utilizes acrylic paint, gouache, and ink on Arches watercolor paper. There are portions that use interference paint. “Interference acrylic colors offer a unique “flip” when viewed from different angles. Colors flip between a bright opalescent color and its complement.” In this piece, you'll notice the flip in her eyes. Signed, dated (1/1)
Between larger pieces I often work smaller, experimenting, testing the waters, trying new things. This piece is one of those that I think made it out of the sketchbook, though she's still finding her place in my world. Inspired somewhat by anime-style cartoons and pop art comics like those of Roy Lichtenstein, her eyes tell her story. We don't know the details, but we know who she is.

ARCHES® Aquarelle Watercolor Paper
Rough / Grain Torchon
100% Natural White Cotton
140lb / 300 gsm
From a block of 20, glued on 4 sides [Block #FC943609]
Made on a cylinder mold, a process similar to paper made by traditional craft methods. The slow turning of the cylinder enables the fibers to be deposited evenly and spread in all directions over the wire. This process can produce papers with a high grammage and exceptional resistance to scratching and erasing when they are gelatin sized to the core. An exclusive process to ARCHES®. Even if it is soaked for a long time, the paper will still retain enough gelatin not to become too absorbent. The 100% cotton gives the paper beauty, a natural, lasting whiteness, and an inimitable touch.
