ARCHES® Aquarelle Watercolor Paper
Made on a cylinder mold, a process similar to paper made by traditional craft methods. The slow turning of the cylinder enables the fibers to be deposited evenly and spread in all directions over the wire. This process can produce papers with a high grammage and exceptional resistance to scratching and erasing when they are gelatin sized to the core. An exclusive process to ARCHES®. Even if it is soaked for a long time, the paper will still retain enough gelatin not to become too absorbent. The 100% cotton gives the paper beauty, a natural, lasting whiteness, and an inimitable touch.

ARTWORK SHIPPING DETAILS

All paintings on stretched canvas are shipped “Ready To Hang.” They are hooked and wired on the back with the appropriate hardware.

Prints and works on paper typically need to be framed. They do not come framed unless otherwise noted.

Additionally, you will receive an official Certificate of Authenticity to prove the work is genuine and is to be kept with the work for the entirety of its lifespan.

Each piece of art ships individually directly from the studio, on occasion smaller artworks purchased on the same transaction may be packaged together.

Art will ship flat in a sturdy, well-protected cardboard box. We work hard to ensure artworks are shipped according to our very high standards. Expect your artwork to arrive with plenty of support packaged in to make its journey as safe as possible as it travels from the artist’s studio to your home.

Art is first wrapped in acid-free archival tissue paper or Glassine paper. The covered with plastic sheeting, poly wrap, or heavy plastic bag for protection against moisture. Then bubble wrapped with cardboard corner protectors. Finally supported by either foam board or two-ply layers of cardboard inside the box.

Prints and other works on paper are shipped flat in chipboard mailers. Protected by cellophane wrapping and layers of foam and cardboard.

Oversize works either crated or carefully removed from the stretcher, then the canvas is delicately rolled with the same layers of paper and sheeting for protection and packaged in a large tube/triangle.

Most shipments are then handled by FedEx. Subject to change depending on rates, timeframes, and other circumstances.

Local free pick-up from the studio is always available, contact to make arrangements.

Staying eco-conscious about the usage of materials is always taken into consideration, so expect to see reused cardboard and other materials inside.

Oversize works have two options:
1. Crated. This means shipping the art stretched as-is, in a constructed wooden container. This method is usually more costly.
2. Rolled. This is a more cost-effective, but still safe, method. First, the art is carefully removed from its stretcher bars, then the canvas is delicately rolled with layers of tissue/Glassine paper and plastic sheeting to keep it from sticking to itself. Finally, its packaged in a large tube or triangle with additional filler to prevent jostling.

Note:
If there is a concern that the art could be damaged by rolling, do not worry, this is a very common shipping method. Acrylic is very pliable, as long as it doesn’t reach extreme temperatures below approximately 40F / 5C. Northbound winter deliveries might be forewarned to postpone.
