While working on the Smalls on Walls series, daily life gave momentum to the work along with reexamination and extension of past work. Untethered and unrestrained interactions provided new context and insight.
Reoccuring themes and elements are prominent throughout. Inverted rainbows, graphic silhouettes, grids, checkers, brush strokes, lozenge-kidney-nucleus-cell-type forms, Xs & Os, and splotchy dollops or dots are the most often recognized.
A network of square canvases (made up of two sizes) can be seen as parts to the whole, balance, and authority. The viewer is witness and part of the dialogue between the work. Boxes like houses with parents, children, siblings, and cousins. Friends, neighbors, and long-distance lovers are all intertwined yet compartmentalized.
